We spend 3 full days in typical Swedish style in a purpose built Swedish Log Cabin, complete with wood burning stove, access to tea, coffee, snacks and a toilet whilst we watch and photograph Golden Eagles at a time of year when there will be snow and lots of other activity from other species of birds. We may see Ravens, Jays, White Tailed Eagle, Goshawk and Red Fox among others.
We may also have a chance to photograph the Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights from our location. Our accommodation is set in the village just a few minutes from the hides which are set in a beautiful forest location.
The setting is fabulous and at this time of year will have a snowy backdrop. This with the magical light provides a great opportunity for you to obtain a stunning set of images before you return to the UK after your three full days in the hides.
It will be cold but the hides are warm inside thanks to the wood burning stove. Janette will ensure that it is lit and well stocked so you will not be cold. The hides are located just a short drive from your accommodation and it is no more than a 5 – 10 minute walk to the hides each day.
All meals and transfers are included in the price so all you need to do is concentrate on your photography. Janette will also be with you at all times to help you with any questions that you may have. We can also spend the evenings post processing if you like! Janette uses Lightroom for all her post processing and is more than happy to share her knowledge with you.
Please note: Sometimes the itinerary may change but this will not interfere with game viewing and photography opportunities!
Will I see Eagles?
Most likely yes, it is a great time of the year to see them but remember that they are wild birds so sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Will there be snow?
There should be at this time of year!
How much are the flights?
This will depend on when you book and which airline you choose. Normally we fly from Heathrow to Stockholm to join a domestic flight to Skelleftea. The price range for a return flight is about £300 to £700 depending on when you book, what packages you book and the like. It is very cheap if you can manage with just hold luggage. Also cheaper if you do not book food on the flight.
Will I be cold in the hides?
The hides that we will use have wood burning stoves installed. Janette will light it and keep it going so you will not be cold at all!
Where do we fly to?
Skelleftea, Sweden. We normally change at Stockholm for the domestic flight.
What else might I see?
Ravens, Foxes and woodland birds.

I found this trip so rewarding,with plenty of help during the day and then in evening processing help.

The location of the hide is spot on, the pick up to and from the airport ran like clockwork and the eagles well just never come, only one but it was a flypast never come in, but this is wildlife, maybe next time when I am with you things will be better. Conny did say it was rather warm and the birds like it cold. I did get bullfinches, woodpeckers, jay’s and a fantastic 3 minutes watching a big red fox so my trip was not a waste of time.
The hide’s are set up so well the food was so good, and as I had the last day there Conny took me for a long drive to show me some of Sweden, that was so good to have done, we also saw reindeer and parts of the country you don’t normally see. Back at the house, I had a lovely dinner to send me on my way home, and it was so lovely, to had spent time with them, it was like I have known them for years, so this is it thank you for a brilliant stay in Sweden.
It was an amazing experience and Conny is so nice and helpful. Got some great shots and loved being in the hide. Managed to keep warm despite it being the coldest winter in north Sweden for 25+ years. The second day it was -37!
All in all a magical trip.
